Our Six Year Farewell Tour

What would possess a young married couple to quit their jobs and tour a melodrama and olio show across the western states for six years? We don't know and we're the ones who did it.

In 1980 we sold our house and hit the road in a twenty foot travel trailer with our dog and cat and no plan for making our way. A career in "show business" was born of necessity and provided us with laughs and frustrations as we pointed our finger in the air and said, "Let's go that way!"

Two major themes developed that guided us through our travels: "No money - no problem!" and "Things are never so bad that they can't get worse" became our battle cries as we made our way into beautiful parts of the country that we had never seen before and met incredible people from all over the U.S. (many of whom became close friends after deciding that we weren't crazy after all). And through it all, we performed our melodrama shows and folk song concerts in a wide and interesting range of venues for audiences large and small, but always appreciative. 

We didn't know it at the time, but this trip would be our farewell to our old hometown and our old way of life.

This is our story and we're sticking to it.
